What I Hid From God, Really? | Devotional #38

Devotional:

September 7, 2026

Hey Reader,

This year I started mock homeschooling, since Maximus starts Kindergarten next year. I wanted to get us into a system to set us up for success.

I enjoy teaching my boys and creating curriculum. It was literally my job at Disney before I became a mom. So this oftentimes feels like a dream.

But I get scared. I get worried. I wonder if I am making the right choices for them.

And you know what I've been doing with that?

Did you guess taking it to God? Maybe with a bit of an eye roll?

Well, would it surprise you if I told you I was actually hiding it?

This past weekend I was really struggling, recognizing my need to step back from a lot of what I've built in order to give my boys what they need and deserve.

Being a stay-at-home mom without childcare, with a husband who works full-time out of the house and runs a side business to help support us while I stay home, I am on the clock from the moment my boys wake up until my husband walks in the door.

And lately? It has been around 5:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. I try my best to give them quiet time, but they're so grumpy sometimes after it's almost not worth it.

So this weekend, as we drove to Legoland for their Halloween event, Mike asked me, "How are you?"

And I told him I was refusing to answer the question.

Truthfully, he'd texted me that same question twice the day before, and I'd ignored both messages and moved on to something else.

But then he called me out for suppressing my emotions. Something I tell other people not to do.

It didn't feel that way to me, though. I was holding on to them until I could take them to God. I just hadn't had the chance to yet.

And that was my reminder: I have to ask for it.

Even if someone gets frustrated with me. Even if it makes me feel like I shouldn't need five minutes with God.

I still need God.

I sometimes need the reminder, too. I never want you to think I'm perfect... not in how I mother, not in my marriage, not in my relationship with God.

I am far beyond perfect.

I am a weary mom who wants to be connected to God, wants to enjoy mom life, and has a deep desire to work on something she's passionate about.

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Matthew 11:28–30 (NIV)

When you follow Jesus and have faith, it doesn't mean you stop being weary…

It simply means you have someone who will sit with you and listen.

P.S.If you have a couple of spare minutes, I would truly appreciate your feedback in this quick questionnaire! For your time, you will be given a 10-Day Bible Study on Faith!

Devotional: September 4, 2026 Hey Reader, I am doing my best to do zero work on the weekends. Sure, I clean up, do laundry, and handle the normal, everyday household chores. But working on my business? It needs to take a backseat. Weekends are for family time in my house. And while my kids are still young enough to enjoy being with me, I want to really focus on being a present mom. So this weekend, we went HARD. Being a local Floridian has its perks, especially with a husband who works for...

Bible Study:September 2, 2026 Hey Reader, Do you feel weary and anxious and can't quite trace where it started? Take a deep dive through Proverbs 4 to unpack what guarding your heart actually looks like: watching what you consume, keeping your eyes fixed forward, and hiding God's word where it can do its work. This is self control applied where most of us never think to apply it, and the peace from God you've been chasing may be waiting on the other side of it. Here is the latest Bible Study...

New Episode:September 1, 2026 Hey Reader, Have you ever gotten so pulled into a story, a trial, a show, or somebody else's life online that you couldn't put it down? What if the thing draining your peace isn't your circumstances at all, but what you've been letting in? In this episode, I get honest about becoming deeply invested in content that had nothing to do with my life, and what Scripture says about protecting what reaches your heart. There's nothing wrong with caring, but Proverbs tells...
